How it Happened

• Both teams started out cold from the floor as Danielle Hore was the first to break through an score with a made three pointer with 7:02 left in the first quarter. Angela Starre and Estelle Leon would account for all of Franciscan's 10 first quarter points, with all of Leon's points coming from the free throw line.
• The second quarter would have the fewest points of any quarter tonight as the teams combined to score 14 points in the quarter. Ciana Vaughan started off the Lady Baron scoring with a made jumper followed up with Starre making another. Rose Judge added a free throw, and Estelle Leon made a layup to tie it up at 17-17 with 4:40 left in the quarter. Franciscan wouldn't score again till the third quarter, and the Spartans would only score on a pair of Sarah Pfeiffer free throws to take a two point lead into the break.
• A 6-2 run over the first two minutes gave Franciscan the lead once again, as the lead would get shifted back and forth quite a few times this quarter. Angela Starre would have a strong quarter as she scored eight of her game high 23 points in this quarter. Kaitlyn Sonneberger joined the scoring with a made layup with 3:46 left in the quarter to give the Lady Barons a one point edge. A late 5-2 Spartans run gave them a five point lead heading into the last.
• Starre stayed strong as she scored Franciscan's first seven points of the quarter to tighten it back up, and Abby Baierl scored her lone bucket of the day to tie it up at 39-39 with 5:09 to play. Each team would exchange a couple free throws as it would be 41-42 Spartans advantage with 2:25 to play. Becca Krenzer and Sydney Alton made crucial shots down the stretch to give the Spartans the edge and eventual victory.
