Hamburg, NY- The Lady Barons trailed by two points at half, but were held to only 13 points in the second quarter to lose to the Hawks for the second time this year.

How it Happened

• Kaitlyn Sonneberger started today for the second time all season, and she did not wait long to make an impact, as she scored the Lady Barons first bucket. Estelle Leon added another bucket, and Abby Baierl ended her drought from three to put the Lady Barons down one at 8-7. Baierl and Angela Starre each made a three in the final 1:30 to send Franciscan to the second quarter tied 13-13.
• Starre made a layup to start the second quarter, and Leon made a tough and one layup, to give the Lady Barons a five point lead. The Franciscan lead would get as high as six points when Sonneberger made her second basket of the night with 4:38 to play in the half. A 12-4 Hawks run to end the half would give them the two point edge going into the break
• Sonneberger made her first two shot in the second half as the Lady Baorns trailed 32-30 with 6:57 left in the quarter. The Hawks would go on a 10-0 run over the next six minutes to take a firm control of the game. Sonneberger made another jumper, and Estelle Leon added a bucket to send Franciscan into the 4th down by 10.
• Sonneberger kept up her strong second half play as she made her first two jumpers of the 4th to cut the lead to six. Unfortunately for Franciscan they went ice cold as a 19-0 run would ensue to make this one look much worse then it was. Clare McGahan added a free throw late to break the run, and the Lady Barons lost 63-39.
