How it Happened
- The Panthers won the jump and hit their first jumper. The Barons responded by going on a 9-0 run. Matt Trent made a jumper, while Drazen Frankovitch added a pair of buckets. Joe Schriner made his first three as well to give the Barons an early 9-2 lead. Travis Lien would get started as he hit his first three to give the Barons a 12-4 lead with 15:36 left to play in the half. The Barons would keep their foot on the gas, as an 8-0 run ensued. Joe Vernau and Sean Hickey made their first buckets, and Donnie Vandeborne banked in his first three of his career. The Panthers battled, as they went on a run to cut the lead to three at 18-21 with 7:47 to play in the half. The Barons would get the offense rolling again as Schriner and Hickey each added a three as they stretched the lead all the way up to 16 points with 4:21 left. The Panthers added a couple buckets down the stretch to head to the half down 11.
- Lien opened up the half by making a three, and Frankovitch added a layup to stretch the Baron lead back up to 16 points. The Panthers and Barons would exchange buckets through the first ten minutes, as both offenses would be firing on all cylinders. Schriner made another three to give the Barons their largest lead at 65-47 with 8:30 to play. A 17-6 run by the Panthers cut this one to a five point game at 75-70 with 2:55 left to play. Coach Joe Wallace called a timeout. The Barons responded strongly as a 5-0 run over the next minute and a half gave the Barons a controlling lead. The Barons made their free throws down the stretch to cruise to a victory, 85-75.
