Barons start 2020 in Behrend

STEUBENVILLE, OH- The Barons are coming into this game well rested as they have had over two weeks off of competitive play. Behrend has played recently at Waynesburg on Monday.

All-Time Series Against Penn St. Behrend
  • Franciscan is 1-21 all-time against Penn St. Behrend, with the Lions winning the last 18 meetings.
  • In last years first meeting, the Barons lost 82-55. Sean Hickey scored a team high 14 points, but the Lions shot an amazing 59.3% from the field including 59.1% from three.
  • Last February the Lions won 77-43, Sean Hickey led the Barons again with 12 points, but Justin Gorny's game high 23 points and a Lion attack of  59% shooting was too much again.
  • The Last Baron victory came in January of 2010 as they won 67-64. Josh Ducoulombier hit a go ahead three with 0:14 remaining and Mike Feuz made two free throws to secure the victory. Matt Liedel led the Baron attack with 16 points and Thomas Kilenschnitz added 12 points. 

Scouting Franciscan
  • Sean Hickey has continued to be the #1 option for the Barons by averaging 17 ppg, while senior center Matt Trent has continued his strong career by averaging 12.8 ppg and 7.2 rpg.
  • Franciscan has the worst field goal percentage defense in the AMCC, while Penn St. Behrend has the best field goal percentage offense in the AMCC, our defense will have to be strong to win this one.



Scouting Penn St. Behrend
  • The Lions have numerous options to score the basketball, as they have five players averaging better then nine points a night. Leading the way is junior guard Kenny Fukon with 15.6 ppg and 6.9 rpg. Sophomore Devin Pope is having a strong year as well averaging 14.6 ppg.
  • Coach Niland has been the face of the Behrend program for over 25 years, now in his 26th season, and he earned his 500th win earlier this season.
