Barons Travel to Pittsburgh to Take on the Redhawks

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Lady Barons are coming into the is game after a tough loss to Alfred State on Saturday. The Lady Barons are on the outside looking into the playoffs, but they can still work their way back into the playoffs. La Roche is in first place in the AMCC, and they could possibly clinch a bye in the first round of the AMCC playoffs with a win against Franciscan.

All-Time Series Against La Roche
  • Franciscan is 4-19 all-time against La Roche, with a win against them earlier this season.
  • The Barons beat La Roche in Steubenville 72-71 last month. Franciscan was trailing by nine point at half, but a strong second half, ending with a game winning three by Sean Hickey, handed La Roche their first AMCC loss of the year. Five Barons scored in double figures, led by Travis Lien's 18 points. Drazen Frankovitch had a huge 15 point night off the bench and helped defensively on Frederick. The Barons shot a season high, at that point, 51.9% from the floor.
  • Last time at La Roche, the Barons fell in a heartbreaker 75-72. The Barons were up by 10 points with 5:23 to play in this one. The Redhawks would come all the way back, and Tyler Frederick would hit the go ahead layup with 21 seconds to play. Joe Schriner led all scorers with 26 points, as he made a Franciscan record of seven three pointers in the game. 
Scouting Franciscan
  • Drazen Frankovitch is slowly but surely looking more an more like himself as of late. He scored is new career high of 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the loss to Mount Aloysius.
  • Travis Lien has been the leading force of the Franciscan offense in this second semester, but he had his worst game thus far against the Mounties, as he was held to five points and 3 rebounds in the loss.
  • Matt Trent had a slow game offensively early on against the Mounties, but he was active on the glass all night. He ended up with 10 points and 17 rebounds, the 4th most rebounds by a Baron in the DIII era.
Scouting La Roche
  • The Redhawks are led by, AMCC Preseason Player of th Year, Tyler Frederick. He is leading the AMCC in points and rebounding at 18.9 ppg and 11.8 rpg.
  • The backcourt starters can all go off for 20 points any given night. Kennedy Smith (16.9 ppg), Darius Lawrence (14.5 ppg), Austin Hannes (13.9 ppg) have started in each game they have played in this year.
  • La Roche is third in the AMCC with 40.5 rebounds as a team per night, and they turn it over the third least in the AMCC at 11.9 a game.
