Women's Basketball Falls to La Roche on the Road

PITTSBURGH, PA : The Redhawks win each quarter as they go on to a commanding victory. Estelle Leon leads the Lady Barons with her 9th double double.

How it Happened
  • The Redhawks would jump out to an early 9-0 run, as Danajah Sanders would make a pair of three pointers in the early going. La Roche would dominate the quarter as a 13-3 run would give them total control, as they took a 24-7 lead with 2:59 to play. Angela Starre would make three pointer to end the run for the Lady Barons. Rose Judge added a layup also, as Franciscan would trail by 15 points heading into the second quarter.
  • La Roche would stretch their lead up to 20 points early on in the quarter. Estelle Leon would respond by making a fastbreak layup, and Starre would add a jumper as well. Selena Coronis and Abby Baierl would add a bucket each as the Lady Barons were able to cut the lead to 13 points. Kaitlyn Sonneberger would make a layup late in the quarter, but La Roche kept up the scoring, as they would take an 18 point lead into the half. 
  • La Roche would go on a 4-0 run to start the quarter and stretch their lead up to 22 points. Leon would have a strong quarter by scoring six points, and her last bucket cut the lead to 19 points. La Roche would make back to back fastbreak buckets to take a 23 point lead to the final quarter. 
  • La Roche would continue to stretch the lead in the early goings, as they would reach their largest lead of the night at 74-45 with 7:10 to play. Kelsey Scott-Avery responded by making her first three pointer of the night, and Leon added another bucket. Clare McGahan would make the Lady Barons final field goal, as they would fall 55-81.

  • Estelle Leon had an efficient double double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, with seven being offensive rebounds.
  • The Lady Barons had 26 turnovers, their second most in a game all year. The Redhawks scored 31 points off of turnovers
  • La Roche shot it really well from the floor, as they shot it at 55.4% on the night including 64.2% in the first half.
  • The Lady Barons won the rebounding battle 42-29.
