STEUBENVILLE, OH : Huge 4th quarter propels the Spartans over the Lady Barons, as Sara Pfeiffer scores 31 points to lead all scorers

How it Happened

• A lineup of this year's Lady Barons five seniors took the floor to start the game, and they would jump out to an early lead thanks to a three pointer and layup from Abby Baierl in the early going. Angela Starre would make a long two to give the Lady Barons a one point lead with 4:22 to play. A 6-0 Spartan run would give them a commanding lead before Estelle Leon would a jumper in the final seconds to go to the second down by four points.
• Sara Pfeiffer would hit her first three of the game in the first minute of play, as she would just start warming up for the Spartans. The Spartans would stretch a lead up to 13 points with 3:55 to play in the half. The Lady Barons were able to cut it to a ten point deficit at half with another three pointer by Baierl and three points from Rose Judge. 
• The Lady Barons had a huge third quarter, thanks in large part to Baierl and Starre once more. Selena Coronis notched her first point of the game with a made free throw to make it a four point game with just over four minutes to play. Starre and Baierl would connect on a three pointer each in the final minute and thirty seconds to tie it up at 50-50, heading into the 4th.
•  Baierl would keep up the sharp shooting,as she made her first three point field goal attempt of the fourth to give the Lady Barons the lead. The Spartans would continue to battle, as the game got tighter and numerous fouls were called. Seniors Kaitlyn Sonneberger, Kelsey Scott-Avery and Abby Baierl would foul out this quarter. That was a huge part to the Lady Barons offensive struggles this quarter. The game would be knotted up at 60-60 with 3:46 to play before the Spartans went on a 9-0 run. Cianna Vaughan would finally snap the run as she hit a fifteen foot jumper. The Spartans would control this one till the end, as they won 74-62.

• Abby Baierl led the Baorns with 24 points and three steals. 
• Angela Starre had a team high ten rebounds, as she recorded a double double with 20 points off the bench.
• The Spartans won the rebounding battle 49-38.
• The Lady Barons had a season low six turnovers on the night. The fewest in program history.
