All-Time Series Against D'Youville
  • Franciscan is 6-15 all-time against the Spartans, with a loss to them earlier this season.
  • In Buffalo  the Spartans down the Barons 94-87 last month. The Spartans led by one at the half, and it would be a close game all the way to the end. The Barons would be up 84-83 with 2:03 left to play, but back to back layups would put the Spartans in control, as well as going 7-8 from the free throw line in the final minute. Will Saunders scored 33 points to lead all scorers, including 12-13 from the charity stripe. Devon Darrell added 22 points as well for the Spartans.
  • Franciscan beat the Spartans 89-82 last year in Buffalo, as Matt Trent would lead the Barons with 27 points. Jer VanDuluitgaarden led all scorers with 31 points on the day.
Scouting Franciscan
  • It is Senior Day for the Barons, as they have seven special seniors to honor. John Noce, Nick Mersch, Nate Nowicki, Matt Trent, Joe Schriner, Christian Comenge and Jonathan Sigler will all be missed, as part of the winningest class in the Division III era.
  • Travis Lien has been the most consistent scorer for the Barons in this second semester. He is averaging 16.3 ppg and has scored in double figures in all but one game this season.
  • Matt Trent has been very reliable contributor all year as well. Trent became the 17th member of the 1000 point club at Franciscan in the loss at La Roche on Wednesday. The senior center now has 1,011 points in his career and is 15th on the all-time scoring list. Trent is just the second player since the Barons joined the NCAA to reach at least 1,000 points.
Scouting D'Youville
  • The Spartans do not struggle to score. They have five players that average in double figures on the season. Second semester transfer Will Saunders is leading the way at 16.4 ppg, but he has been cold as of late.
  • Grant Beyer (12.9 ppg), Darrius Hartzog (12.6 ppg), Devon Darrell (12.6 ppg) and Juan Miguel Rosales (11.8 ppg) round out the top five scorers. They require a strong defensive presence 1-5 from their opponents at all times.
  • The Spartan offense has been struggling as a unit overall their last three games, as they have scored 71.3 ppg in those three games.
