Location:Â Alfred, NY
How it Happened
- The Pioneers would open up this one on a 13-0 run, until Sean Hickey would make a layup with 14:59 to play in the half. The Barons would struggle shooting all half, especially from deep as they would not make a three pointer all half. Joe Schriner would make a trio of buckets to lead the Barons with six points at the half. Joe Vernau would make a layup late in the half to head into the half down by 16 points.
- Nate Nowicki would break the drought from deep, as he made his first three in the early going of the second half. Donnie Vandeborne would make a pair of three pointers, as the Barons would slowly chip away at the Alfred State lead. Nowicki would make his second three, John Noce made a jumper to make it a six point game with 9:48 to play. The Barons could never seem to make a stop when they need one, as the Pioneers continually responded with clutch buckets to neutralize the threats. Noce continued the great shooting as he would make a couple threes and cut it to a six point game once again with 1:45 to play. A couple missed shots forced the Barons to play the foul game, and the Pioneers would make enough to hold on an win by eight.Â

Up Next
This is the last game for the 2019-20 Barons, and their last AMCC conference game as they join the PAC next season. Franciscan went 1-3 against PAC opponents this season, and with the loss of seven seniors, it will be interesting to see how this team transfers to the new conference.Â
