How it Happened
- The first quarter was the lowest scoring quarter that the Lady Barons have been involved in since Women's Basketball moved to the four quarter setup, as both teams would struggle mightily from the floor. Kaitlyn Sonneberger would make a jumper in the early going to tie it up at 2-2. Abby Baierl would make a layup with seven minutes left to take the lead at 4-2. Angela Starre would add a jumper on the next possession to give the Lady Barons a 6-2 lead with over six minutes to play in the quarter. The Mounties would be the only ones to score the rest of the way, as they added a jumper and a free throw. The Lady Barons would be up one after the slow quarter.
- Scoring would pick up quickly, as it would be 10-10 with 7:19 to play in the second quarter. Rose Judge and Estelle Leon would make buckets, as Franciscan would take their largest lead of the half once more at four points. The Mounties would end the quarter on an 8-0 run to retake the lead heading into halftime, 22-16.
- The Lady Barons answered the call this game, one quarter earlier then their last two wins, as they would have a very strong third quarter to retake the lead. Angela Starre would really heat up as she scored nine straight Franciscan points to retake the lead at 27-26 with six minutes to play. Kelsey Scott-Avery would find her shooting touch next, as she added made three pointers on back to back possessions. A Lady Baron 6-0 run would end the quarter to give them a five point cushion heading into the last quarter.
- The Lady Barons proved that they were not going anywhere, as Baierl and Starre would make back to back threes in the first minute to stretch the lead to 11 points. The Mounties would respond by cutting it to a seven point defect with six minutes to play. Franiscan always seemed to respond when they needed to tonight, as a 5-0 run would give the Lady Barons a commanding lead once more. The Lady Barons would not shoot the best from the free throw line down the stretch, 77.8% on the night, but they made enough to keep control of this one, as they would win by 12 points.
