How It HappenedÂ
The Lady Barons honored their five seniors for Senior Day on the last home game of the year for Franciscan. All five seniors started the game for Franciscan, and the Lady Barons would jump out to a 4-2 lead. Renee Antonelli added two kills with Maria Bosco registering her first in the early Franciscan run. Emily Nutter added her first two kills of the night as well, as Franciscan would expand upon their lead. Franciscan would maintain the lead,as they were the first to 15 at 15-12. Geneva would rally back to tie it up at 17-17. Franciscan would take charge with a 3-0 run of their own. Sara Moor added her first kill of the day to pull Franciscan's lead up to 22-19. The Franciscan offensive attack would continue to hit on all cylinders, as Bosco, O'Malley and Jacobson added kills to give Franciscan set one.
Set two belonged to the Golden Tornadoes, as they jumped out to a 17-7 lead. They would have a couple strong runs of great serves that Franciscan was not able to handle properly. Geneva would take the second set 25-12.
Set number three started out the total opposite of set two, as Franciscan jumped out to an 8-1 lead. Antonelli had the longest run of serves for Franciscan which included two aces. Freshman Lucy Pridemore and Brynn Jacobson added two kills to help Franciscan be the first to 15 at 15-11. Geneva would rally back to tie it up at 16-16, and then they stretched out to a 20-17 lead. The Lady Barons would not be able to tie it back up, as Geneva would control the remainder of the set and win 25-19.
Franciscan would start strong in set number four, as they would take an early 5-2 lead. Emma McDonald registered her first kill to give Franciscan the 5th point. Caitlin O'Malley would add and kill, and Meghan Hickey added her first ace of the night to give Franciscan a 9-4 lead. Franciscan would be the first to 15 for the third time of the game with a lead of 15-11. The Golden Tornadoes would hang around, but not be able to chip into the Franciscan lead, as Franciscan appeared to be in control with a 23-20 lead. A 4-0 Golden Tornado run would give them a match point opportunity at 24-23. Emma McDonald would step up with a big kill, and then Geneva would commit an error to give Franciscan an opportunity at set point. Each team would go on a 2-0 run to snap out of set point deficits until the score was 28-28. Geneva would put the final 2-0 run together to win 30-28.

Who's Next?Â
Franciscan will just have one game left on their 2021 schedule, as they head to Bethany on Saturday at 1pm. The Bison beat the Lady Barons earlier this season in a three set match at home. Bethany has clinched a spot in the playoffs, but they are still battling to host and improve their seed. Franciscan will be looking to play the role of the spoiler, as they try to beat Bethany for the second time in program history.Â
