How It Happened
Franciscan would fall in their PAC conference opener against Grove City at home by a score of 87-48
Madison Doan would score the first two buckets of the game for Franciscan, as they would be behind 11-4 in the early going. Jazzlyn Melnyk would get on the board with a big and-one layup to tighten it up at 11-7. Kimberly McDaniels would add a couple of free throw makes, but Grove City would take a 24-10 lead into the second quarter.
Grove City opened up the second quarter on an 11-0 run before McDaniels would add her first made field goal. That sparked a Franciscan 5-0 run that included Sophie LaRose's first made shot. Grove City would be able to expand on their lead, as they would hold a 22 point lead at the half, 43-21.
Doan would start the second half, just like the first half, by scoring Franciscan's first two buckets. The Wolverines would then go on a run to stretch the lead up to 59-25. Jazzlyn Melnyk would end the run with a strong contested layup. Later in the quarter Mary Hollis Taylor would make a three pointer, her first of her Franciscan career. At the buzzer Doan would add another layup on a great pass from Ilena Gonzales to send us to the fourth with a score of 71-36.
The Lady Barons would fight hard till the end, as they went on a 7-0 run in the beginning of the fourth quarter. Felicia MacGillivray scored her first five points of the night in the run including a three pointer. LaRose would connect on a trio of free throws, and Melnyk would add the last bucket for the Lady Barons.

- Melnyk led Franciscan with 14 points.
- Madison Doan scored in double figures with 10 points.
- Franciscan had 10 steals on the night with Melnyk having five.
- Kallock led all scorers with 19 points for the Wolverines

Up Next
Franciscan will head up north on Saturday to take on Allegheny at 1pm. This will be the first matchup between these two schools in women's basketball. It certainly will not be the last, as they will play each other twice next season with Allegheny joining the PAC. The Gators have already played a pair of PAC schools in Bethany and Geneva. They lost to the Bison 85-35, and they just lost 70-67 to the Goldem Tornadoes tonight.
