How It Happened
Franciscan hosted their local PAC rival Bethany on Wednesday night. The visiting Bison would come out on top, by a score of 70-33
Sophie LaRose would open the scoring up for Franciscan with a long two point field goal to set the score at 3-2. LaRose would make a three pointer later in the quarter, and Jazzlyn Melnyk made a free throw to give Franciscan six points in the first quarter. Bethany freshman Lindsay Garrison was off to another great start, as she had eight points with two made three pointers in the opening quarter.
Bethany continued their early success by starting the second quarter on an 11-2 run. LaRose would deliver a big made three pointer, her second of the day, to stop the run and set the score at 27-11. Kimberly McDaniels would join the scoring column a little late in the quarter on a hard take to the basket. Bethany would respond once more with a 5-0 run, but then Madison Doan would make her first shot of the night to end the half with a score of 36-15.
The Lady Barons and Bison would exchange buckets over the first couple minutes of the third quarter. Felicia MacGillivray would score four straight points for Franciscan in the middle of this quarter. Madison Doan would finish the quarter off strong with four points of her own in a row, including a tough, and one, driving layup.
Doan would keep it up in the fourth quarter, as she scored six points in the fourth to work her way into double figures. Bethany would prevail with the win by a score of 70-33.
