How It Happened
The Barons and Cougars battled for 40 minutes, but the Cougars pull away late as they win 94-82. Tristan McDannell and Josh Zimmerman score career highs in the loss.
The Cougars jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead, but Sean Hickey would connect a trey and Zimmerman added a bucket to square it up at five. Nicholas Allienello and Justin Mack each added three pointers to help give the Barons a lead, as scoring would heat up in the early going. Chatham would regain the lead halfway through the first, but the Barons would keep it close. Josh Zimmerman added a massive dunk with 10:03 to put the deficit at two points. With 3:49 to play the Cougars would be leading by nine, A Sean Hickey three and Christian Nguyen would tighten the gap, and the Barons would head into the break down by one point, 42-41.
The Barons offense came out to play early in the second half, as Tristan McDannell added four points quickly, but the Franciscan defense could not get a stop when they needed it. The Cougars would pull the lead up to five points with ten minutes to play. That would be the closest the Barons would be to the lead, as Malik Potter added one of his four treys as Chatham would take a commanding lead.
