How It Happened
The Franciscan Softball team took on local Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany College in a nonconference double header, falling in game one 3-2.
The Barons would strike first, scoring a run in the first inning.
Rachel Cooper would reach base and stole second base to put herself in scoring position.
Jenny Massey would then crush an RBI double over the center fielders head to put Franciscan on the board. The Bison would respond plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning, taking a 2-1 lead.
Both pitchers would settle in with starter
Andi Queen controlling the Bison through most of the next five innings holding them scoreless. Franciscan continued to battle offensively, plating a run in the sixth inning.
Chloe Cross led off the inning, reaching on an error. After
Rachel Cooper bunted to move Cross to second, Cross would then capitalize on a throwing error, scoring from second to tie the game at 2-2.
Bethany would answer, scoring a run in the bottom of the sixth inning and holding on for the 3-2 victory.

How It Happened
The Lady Barons regrouped from their game one defeat, turning to freshman pitcher
Lilly Wahl for game two.
Lilly Wahl got of to a strong start in the second inning, striking out the side in the second inning. Wahl record eight strike outs in her seven innings of actions.
Franciscan offense again struggled to find its rhythm, being held to just one hit and two base runners through the first three inning. The Barons would finally break through in the fourth inning.
Rachel Cooper led off the inning with a single into left center field.
Jenny Massey followed with a single to center field and then Cooper and Massey executed a double steal, putting runners on second and third.
Ariana Arnone would then smash a single into center field scoring Cooper and putting the Barons ahead 1-0.
Franciscan was unable to plate another run, but one run was plenty for Wahl as she continued to dominate the Bison. Wahl would not allow a base runner in the final three innings, striking out the side in the fifth inning and securing the 1-0 victory for the Barons.

Up Next
Franciscan will travel to Chatham for a Wednesday night double header under the lights at Chatham. Franciscan is 1-15 all-time against Chatham, with Chatham winning the last three matchups. The two teams have not squared off since 2016, so these will be totally different teams, then those that have met in the past.
