How It Happened
The Franciscan Softball team fell in game one of their nonconference matchup with Waynesburg by a score of 5-4.
The Barons would take an early lead, striking in the first inning.
Chloe Cross led off the game by smashing a double down the right field line.
Ariana Arnone would plate Cross, driving a single up the middle to put Franciscan ahead 1-0. Waynesburg scored a pair of runs in both the first and third inning to take a 4-1 lead.
Franciscan would start a rally in the fifth inning.
Rachel Cooper started the run with a single into center field. After Arnone reached on a fielding error,
Jenny Massey hit a hard ground ball at the Yellow Jackets short stop, plating Cooper. Later in the inning, Annie Cerjak drove a single into right field scoring Arnone and Massey tying the game at four. Waynesburg would response scoring a run the bottom of the seventh inning to with the game 5-4.

How It Happened
The Barons regrouped from their game one defeat and looked to earn the spilt in the game two.
Waynesburg jumped out to an early lead, scoring runs in the second and third inning, taking a 2-0 lead. Franciscan would answer back in the top of the fourth inning.
Jenny Massey would start the rally by hitting a single up the middle.
Lilly Wahl earned a walk, putting runners on first and second. Annie Cerjak would then reach on a fielding error, allowing Massey to score.
Brooklynn Miller then followed with a single, scoring Wahl and tying the game at two.
Elizabeth Gibson crushed a double into left center field scoring Cerjak and Miller and putting Franciscan ahead 4-2.
The Yellow Jackets pulled back within one, scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning. Leading 4-3 in the seventh inning, Franciscan looked to tack on a couple of insurance runs.
Emma Barnes started the inning by working a walk to get on base.
Chloe Cross and
Rachel Cooper executed bunt singles, loading the base for
Ariana Arnone. Arnone would come through in a big way, smashing a grand slam over the left field fence, putting Franciscan ahead 8-3. Later in the inning, the Barons would again work the bases load when Miller would single into left field giving Franciscan a 9-3 lead.
Lilly Wahl would record the final three outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving Franciscan the win.

Ariana Arnone went 2-4, launching her first career home run in the seventh inning. The home run was grand slam, driving in four RBIs

Brooklynn Miller was 2-4, driving in two runs with RBI singles in the fourth and seventh innings
