How It Happened
STEUBENVILLE, OHIO ā TheĀ Franciscan Softball teamĀ fell in game one of their season opening doubleheader with Geneva, losing 12-1 in five innings.Ā
The Barons fell in an early hole, allowing nine runs in the first two innings, while committing four errors in the field. Franciscans offense found some traction in bottom of the second inning. After Brooklyn Miller drew a walk,
Chloe Cross smashed a double into center field, putting runners on second and third.
Elizabeth Gibson came through with a sacrifice fly to right field to drive the Barons their first run of the game.Ā
The Barons defense would settle in behind relief pitcher
Lilly Wahl holding the Golden Tornadoes to three runs over the final three innings. The Barons offense would get runners on base in the fourth and fifth innings, but could not score any runs, falling 12-1.Ā Ā

How It Happened
The Lady Barons reset from their game one loss and took on the Golden Tornadoes in game two. Starter
Andi Queen held Geneva to to just one run in through the first three innings. Geneva's offense would break through in the fourth inning, plating six runs.Ā
Allyson Weiss would get the Barons on the board in the fifth inning, blasting a solo home run over the left field fence. Geneva would plate four runs in the sixth and seventh innings, building an 11-1 lead. In the bottom seventh inning after a single by
Lilly Wahl, Weiss would again go deep blasting a two-run homerun. The Barons rally fell short, as Franciscan lost 11-3.Ā

Franciscan will travel to Saint Vincent on Saturday for a non-conference double header starting at 1:00 p.m. The Lady Barons are 0-8 all-time against the Bearcats, but the two teams have not squared off since 2014.Ā
