Steubenville, Ohio - Franciscan University Women's Tennis team powered past perennial Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) powerhouse Grove City on Saturday April 10
Doubles
The Lady Barons top team of
Maria Herrera and
Ana Victoria Haddad started the Barons on a strong note, taking the #1 doubles matchup by a score of 8-3. The team of
Caroline Picard and
Alyce Davis also picked up the #3 doubles victory, using a 7-5 tiebreaker to pick up the 8-7 win.
Zoey Stapleton and
Haley Davinsizer fell just short in their doubles match up, losing 8-4.Â
Singles
Maria Herrera once again started strong, winning the #1 singles 6-4, 7-6.
Ana Victoria Haddad won a thrilling battle in the #2 singles match up. After dropping the first set, Haddad would storm back to win the second set 6-1 and take the match point winning the third set tie breaker 10-6.
Zoey Stapleton cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 victory in the number three singles match up.
Caroline Picard follow suit winning her #5 singles match up in two sets by a score of 6-2, 6-1.
Susan Schuberg won the #6 singles matchup, rallying from a second set lose to win the third tie breaking set by a score of 10-7.Â
Who's Next?Â
Franciscan will have time to recover and prepare for their next PAC matchup, as their next game is at Bethany next Friday. The Lady Barons are 6-3 all-time against the Bison, with wins in their last six matchups. The two teams have not squared off since 2015.Â
