Steubenville, Ohio - The Franciscan University Women's Tennis team fell for the first time in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action to Westminster by a score of 8-1. After the match, Franciscan celebrated senior day, honoring the teams lone senior,
Ana Victoria Haddad.
Doubles
The Barons dropped all three doubles match ups. The team of
Maria Herrera and
Ana Victoria Haddad fell 8-3 in the number one doubles match.
Zoey Stapleton and
Haley Davinsizer droped the #2 doubles match 8-4. In the final doubles match,
Susan Schuberg and
Alyce Davis lost by a score of 8-3.Â
Singles
Zoey Stapleton picked up the Barons lone win in singles action, winning the #3 singles match by a score of 6-4, 6-1.
Ana Victoria Haddad pushed the #2 singles match to a third set tie breaker, falling by a score of 10-4 in the tiebreaker. In the #1 singles match,
Maria Herrera lost a competitive match by a score of 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) .
Haley Davinsizer could not complete a comeback in the second set of her #4 singles matchup, falling 6-2, 6-4.
Susan Schuberg and
Alyce Davis lost the #5 and #6 singles matches.Â
Who's Next?Â
This concludes the regular season for the women's tennis team. The PAC playoffs start on Tuesday April 20th with the top six teams making the playoffs. The Lady Barons will be in the playoffs, but seeding will be finalized by the athletic directors of the PAC sometime this coming week. Stay tuned for more information on quarterfinal matchups.Â
