How It Happened
The Franciscan Softball team dropped game one of their nonconference matchup with Carnegie Mellon by a score of 18-0.
Carnegie Mello would jump out to an early lead, plating three runs in each of the first two innings. Franciscan struggled to get their bats going, being held to just four hits in five innings of action. The Tartans would break the game open, scoring five runs in the third inning and six runs in the fourth inning in route to the victory.

How It Happened
The Barons regrouped from their game one defeat, challenging Carnegie Mellon in game two.
Franciscan would get on the board first, when
Rachel Cooper crushed a solo homerun over the center field fence in the first inning. This was Cooper's first home run of the season.
Carnegie Mellon would respond scoring a run in the second and third innings to retake a 2-1 lead. The Barons would answer back in the third inning. Cooper led off the inning with a single into left field and then swiped second base to put herself in scoring position.
Chloe Cross would then reach on an error by the Tartans second baseman, allowing Cooper to score and tie the game at two.
The Barons offense would continue to battle, striking back in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Emma Barnes would single to get the Barons offense started. Cooper once again came up big, cranking her second home run of the game over the center field fence giving Franciscan a 4-2 lead.
Carnegie Mellon would score one run in the sixth and five runs in the seventh to storm back and win game two by a score of 8-4.

Up Next
Franciscan will continue their busy schedule, as they resume PAC play at Grove City on Saturday. These two teams played a doubleheader earlier this season with each team winning one game. Grove City won game one 9-0, and Franciscan won game two 8-6.
Ariana Arnone would have three RBIs in the win, and
Chloe Cross would hit her first home run of the season in the win. That was Franciscan's first win all-time against Grove City, as they hold a 1-7 record in their eight previous matchups.
