How It Happened
The Franciscan Lady Barons would battle extremely hard but fall to #1 Washington & Jefferson in the PAC semifinal on Wednesday afternoon. Grace Deegan scored five goals to lead the offensive attack.

In the first thirty minute half, the Presidents would score the first two goals to take an early edge. The Lady Barons would respond, as they would tally three straight goals to take lead back at 3-2. Maureen Cain, Grace Deegan and Joanna Hilkert each scored their first goals of the night in the 3-0 run. Sarah Labovitz would tie it back up at 3-3, as she scored her first of a game high seven goals. Joanna Hilkert would give Franciscan the lead once more off of a great pass by Mary Bohli. Unfortunately that would be the Lady Barons last lead of the night, as the Presidents would go on a 5-0 run to end the quarter and take an 8-4 lead into the half.

Grace Deegan would help Franciscan snap out of the funk in the early goings of the second half, as she scored her second goal of the night, while the Lady Barons were a man down. That would pull the Lady Barons to within three at an 8-5 margin. The Presidents would answer, by going on a 3-0 run of there own to stretch the lead back up to six. Franciscan would respond with arguably their best two minutes of play, by scoring three goals of their own. Deegan netted a pair and Mary Bohli would score her first of the night. With 19 minutes to play, Christina Haug would score her first goal of the game, and we would be trailing by three goals, 12-9. Franciscan could not neutralize the Washington and Jefferson attack, hence they would not be able to surmount their second half lead. Haug would add a second goal, and Blair Wonderly would score a man up goal late. The Presidents would win 17-12.

Who's Next?
This concludes the 2021 season for the Lady Barons. With eight seniors graduating, Margaret Mckee, Maria Hilkert, Abigail Schaefer, Maureen Cain, Maddy Smith, Sam Callahan, Blair Wonderly and Teresa Dulac, the Lady Barons will have to bring in a strong recruiting class to fill the gaps. This was their second trip to the PAC Tournament in their two attempts, and they have many talented returners, so there is a lot to look forward to in the 2022 season.
