How It HappenedÂ
The Franciscan Women's Soccer team would have their season come to an end at #1 Grove City in the PAC semifinals by a score of 3-0.
The Wolverines would control ball possession in the first half, as they would out shot the Lady Barons 13-0 in the first 45 minutes. Grove City would find the back of the net on three of them. Hailey Weinert opened up the scoring in the 20th minute. Nine minutes later Megan Mathes netted the second goal of the night for Grove City. Tirzah Lloyd would score the third and final goal for the Wolverines in the first half.
Franciscan would get multiple good looks in the second half, as Juliana Rubino would take three shots in the half with two being on goal. Bella Rubino would get two good looks of her own, but not be able to put it in the back of the net, as the Lady Barons would fall 3-0.
Inside the Numbers Â
- Juliana Rubino had a team high three shots with two on goal.
- Beth Flanagan had one shot on goal.
- Bella Rubino had two shot with one on goal.
- Franciscan was out shot 18-6.
Who's Next?Â
This concludes the 2020-21 season for the Lady Barons soccer team. They will have a shorter offseason than normal, as they will get back after it in the fall of 2021. With eight seniors graduating, Marita Ostrich, Marykate Bateman, Kaitlyn Martuch, Annie Beckman, Sarah Cocozza, Beth Flanagan, Kaitrin O'Leary and Sam Hebert, it will be interesting to see how Coach Salamida will replace these talented players. Time will tell, as Franciscan will be back on the field competing in four months.Â
