How It Happened
The Franciscan Softball team dropped two games to Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Chatham on Friday April 30.
The Barons struggled to get the offense going, only collecting three hits in the game.
Allyson Weiss launched a double into left field in the third inning and eventually moved over to third base, but the Barons could not score her. Chatham scored a run in the fourth and fifth inning to take control of the game and added an insurance run on the way to the 3-0 victory.

How It Happened
Franciscan would fall in an early hole in game two, allowing four runs in the top of the first inning. The Barons offense would respond, scoring in the bottom of the first inning.
Allyson Weiss led off with double to center field. After
Chloe Cross moved Weiss to third, she capitalized on a wild pitch, sliding safely under a tag at home to score the Barons first run of the day. Franciscan would strike again in the third inning. After Weiss got hit by a pitch,
Jenny Massey singled to the shortstop, putting runners on first and second.
Andi Queen would then deliver an RBI single to center field, scoring Weiss cutting Chatham lead to 4-2.
Chatham answered back, scoring three runs in the top of the fourth inning to retake control of the game. Franciscan tried to make one last push in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Elizabeth Gibson and
Emma Barnes worked walks putting runners on base for the top of the order. After Weiss singled to load the bases, Massey would smash a 2 RBI single into center field, allowing the Barons to pull back with three runs.
After Chatham scored three more runs in the top of the fifth inning and Franciscan failed to score in the bottom of the fifth inning, the game was called due to darkness.

Franciscan will host Waynesburg tomorrow for Senior Day. The Lady Barons and Yellow Jackets split in their two earlier matchups this season. In the 9-3 win,
Ariana Arnone hit a grand slam in the 7th inning to give Franciscan some insurance runs and set the score at 8-3. The Lady Barons are 5-11 all-time against the Yellow Jackets.
