Latrobe, Pa. - Franciscan University suffered their first loss of the season at Saint Vincent on Friday evening. The loss gives Saint Vincent and Franciscan each one loss in PAC play this season
Doubles
Head Coach
Scott Greve changed up the doubles pairings today, as
Aidan Palladino moved up to #2 doubles with
Luke Conrad. That pairing meshed well, as they were the first ones off the court with an 8-1 win.
Gary Pierre and
Billy Presume were the next done, but they were on the wrong side of an 8-1 score in #1 doubles.
Joseph Suess and
Aidan Howard, the senior teammates, battled hard in #3 doubles bur lost 8-4.
Singles
Billy Presume would get things back on track, as he won in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 in #3 singles.
Gary Pierre would fall in #1 singles, by a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Aidan Palladino would continue his success from earlier, with a win at #6 singles.
Aidan Howard battled har but fell 6-2, 6-3 in #4 singles. With two matches left, the Barons would have to win both to keep their undefeated season alive. Senior
Christian Cappello would step up as he would win #5 singles, by winning the tiebreaker 10-5.
Luke Conrad would then fall in the closes match of the day in the tiebreaker 10-8, to give Saint Vincent a 5-4 win. Â
Who's Next?Â
Franciscan will return to action tomorrow at home against Grove City. Grove City is undefeated in PAC play, as they are off to their normal strong start in men's tennis. The Barons are 4-5 all-time against the Wolverines, but they have not beat them since 2018. In that home match,
Luke Conrad, a young freshman, would win his match at #5 singles, by winning a tiebreaker 10-6 after splitting two hard fought sets.Â
