Ellwood City, Pa. - The Franciscan Women's Golf team played at Connoquenessing Country Club for their first away match of the 2020-21 season. The Lady Barons would fall4-1 in the match play formatted competition.
How it Happened
In the #1 pairing Franciscan freshman
Gia Hooper would play well on her way to a commanding five up with four holes to play win over PAC Golfer of the Week Hannah Therrell. In the second pairing, fellow freshman
Madeline Holecek would lose ont the 17th green down by two. A highlight for Holecek was reaching the par five #2 in two shots, and making the lone birdie of the day for Franciscan.
In the #5 pairing,
Hailey Jansen would battle through a hand injury, and fall just short down six with four to play after 14 holes.
Rosemary Prezzia made her golf team debut and would battle hard to a loss in the #4 pairing. She lost when she was six down with five holes to play.
Emily Lamontagne jumped up in the lineup to #3, but fell to Anna Kaminski.

Franciscan will have the weekend to recover and prepare for their next match at Southpointe Golf Club on Monday, the Peter C. Rossin Memorial Invitational hosted by Washington & Jefferson. This will be the second year in a row that the Lady Barons will compete in this event, but first that they will have a full team in the field.
