How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Soccer scored 6 goals in their home opener. The goal scoring started early in their offensive effort. Three minutes into play, the Lady Barons received a corner kick. The Barons sent a great ball high and right across the goal. La Roche tried to head the ball over the crossbar, but instead hit the ball into their own goal. No Barons were awarded an assist or the goal, but were still up 1-0 and never looked back. Freshman Tania Davidson would score the next two goals for the Barons to stretch the lead out to 3-0. Right before the end of the first half, Claire Dawyot ripped a shot from outside the box that just sailed over the La Roche goalie to set the score at 4-0.

Franciscan was able to add in the second half, as Gabriella De La Torre scored her first goal of the season in the 78th minute. Less than two minutes later, Bella Rubino would find the back of the net to give the Barons a 6-0 edge. Rubino ended the night with a goal and three assists. That is the third time in program history a Franciscan Women's Soccer player recorded three assists.
