Steubenville, Ohio - The Lady Barons brought unique pairings tonight as upper Classmen
Zoey Stapleton,
Haley Davinsizer, and
Caroline Picard were given their choice of underclassmen to be their doubles partners. This gave
Isabella Matt and
Makena Wisniewski their first victories as collegiate athletes.
Doubles
    The Lady Barons got off to a quick start. #2 pairing of
Zoey Stapleton and
Makena Wisniewski won their match against Martell/Pauquette 8-1 picking up the first point for the evening. The #3 pairing of
Caroline Picard and
Isabella Matt were not far behind, winning their match 8-1. The #1 pairing of
Haley Davinsizer and
Laina Anderson had to fight Hufner/Andrews hard. Thanks to the team energy, Davinsizer and Anderson prevailed, and won their match 8-5. At the conclusion of doubles play, the Lady Barons were up 3-0.
Singles
    Franciscan women continued their strong play in doubles into their singles matches. #6 hitter
Alessandra Barker finished her match first in straight sets bringing the Lady Barons up 4-0, and getting her first collegiate singles victory. Next to finish was #5 hitter
Susan Schuberg, also taking her opponent in straight sets. At this time, the Lady Barons were up 5-0 and had clinched the win. #4 hitter
Haley Davinsizer takes down her opponent Paquette in two sets.
Zoey Stapleton was the #2 hitter this evening, and she became the third Lady Baron of the night to win in straight sets. #1 hitter

Caroline Picard anchored the 9-0 sweep for the Lady Barons.Â
Who's Next?Â
    The Lady Barons will have little time to rest, as they are on the road tomorrow at Saint Vincent for a PAC matchup. The Lady Barons are 5-0 all-time against the Bearcats. Franciscan won 9-0 on on April 7th last spring in their first ever conference matchup.
