Franciscan 8, Saint Vincent 1
Latrobe, Pa. - The Franciscan Women's Tennis team traveled to Saint Vincent for a PAC conference matchup on Friday afternoon. The Barons were able to secure their second conference win of the year with a dominant 8-1 win. With the win, Franciscan remains unbeaten in conference play at 2-0 thus far this season.
Doubles
The pairing of
Susan Schuberg and
Caroline Picard secured the first win of the day at #3 doubles. They won by a score of 8-0. The #1 doubles pairing of
Maria Herrera and
Zoey Stapleton were the next pairing to finish, as they won 8-2.
Laina Anderson and
Haley Davinsizer secured the doubles sweep with their 8-2 win in #2 doubles.
Singles
Franciscan kept up their strong play in the singles matches.
Haley Davinsizer was the first one of the court, as she won by a score of 6-1, 6-1 in the #3 match.
Susan Schuberg had similar success in #6 singles, as she only dropped one point in a straight set win. Freshman
Laina Anderson won the decisive fifth point in #5 singles with her 6-0, 6-0 dominant win.
Maria Herrera would win by the same score in #1 singles.
Caroline Picard was the next to finish in a straight sets win at #4 singles.
Who's Next?
The Lady Barons return home for their third game in three days, as La Roche comes to town. The Lady Barons are 10-2 all-time against their former conference foe, and they have won the last seven meetings against them. The Redhawks have struggled in the early going od the season, as they are 0-3 and hungry for their first win of the season.
