Franciscan 9, La Roche 0
Steubenville, Ohio - The Franciscan Lady Barons face old AMCC opponent La Roche Red Hawks in the 13th meeting between the two schools. After today's victory, the Lady Barons are on an eight match win streak against the Red Hawks.
Doubles
The Lady Barons started their doubles play with #3 pairing
Haley Davinsizer and
Alessandra Barker. Davinsizer has been playing extremely well all season, and Barker is coming off of her first career singles victory. The pair found chemistry, and took their match in a straight set. This put the first points on the board for the Lady Barons.
 Â
Caroline Picard and
Laina Anderson finished next, winning their #2 pairings match in a straight set as well. Picard has had a multitude of doubles partners this season, but she continues to find success regardless of who she is playing with.Â
The #1 pairings were the last to finish. Consistent top-hitter
Maria Herrera was paired with the extremely consistent
Susan Schuberg. This was the only match that the Red Hawks were able to pick up game points, but the Lady Baron duo still won 8-2.
Singles
Franciscan women were on fire for singles play.
Haley Davinsizer was rewarded her steady play, by slotting up to the #2 spot, her first time there this season. The Lady Baron hitters; #2
Haley Davinsizer, #3
Laina Anderson, #4
Susan Schuberg, #5
Makena Wisniewski, and #6
Alessandra Barker all took their matches in straight sets.
Maria Herrera continues to anchor the Lady Barons as the #1 hitter. She too found success in singles, beating her opponent and only dropping one game point in the match.
Who's Next?Â
The Lady Barons will resume PAC play on Thursday as Waynesburg comes to town. The Lady Barons are 1-0 all-time against the Yellow Jackets with their lone matchup coming last season. These two teams played last spring at Waynesburg, and Franciscan came out on top by a score of 9-0. The Barons dominate victory included a pair of straight sets, singles wins by
Maria Herrera and
Susan Schuberg.Â
