Women's Tennis Wins at Geneva

Franciscan 9, Geneva 0

Beaver Falls, Pa. - The Franciscan Women's Tennis team extended their winning streak up to seven in a row and improved their PAC record to 4-0 with a win over Geneva on Wednesday evening. 

Doubles
    The Lady Barons were able to get off to a strong start in doubles play by winning all three matches. First off the court were the #1 doubles pairing of Maria Herrera and Olivia Colby. They won 8-0 to remain unbeaten thus far when paired together. Caroline Picard and Laina Anderson would be the next to finish, as they won #3 doubles by a score of 8-2. Zoey Stapleton and Haley Davinsizer secured the third team point, as they won 8-3 in #2 doubles.

Singles
    Franciscan continued their great play, as they were able to win all six singles matches. Maria Herrera was first off the court with a straight sets 6-0, 6-0 win. Olivia Colby won in straight sets as well in #2 singles. Laina Anderson shutout her opponent in #6 singles. Next to finish for the Lady Barons was the lone senior Zoey Stapleton, as she won in #3 singles. Caroline Picard and Haley Davinsizer were the last two to finish, as they both won 6-2, 6-0. 

Who's Next? 
    The Lady Barons return home for a tough match on Saturday against Washington & Jefferson at 1:00 pm. The Presidents like the Lady Barons are undefeated through PAC play and have one loss on the season. Their lone loss coming to future PAC foe in Allegheny. The winner of the match on Saturday will control their own destiny in winning the PAC regular season title. These two teams met twice last season with both being 5-4 wins for Franciscan. Their second meeting last year was in the PAC Championship. The PAC championship would come down to #2 Singles match where, now Assistant Coach, Ana Victoria Haddad took on Washington & Jefferson's Bella Goldman. Haddad took the first set 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 7-5. After dropping the second set 2-6, Haddad would control play in the third set winning 6-2 securing the PAC Championship for Franciscan.
