Steubenville, Ohio - On a chilly, wet and rainy day, The Rugby Ruckus was a bit of a wash. But, no matter, with alumni on the sidelines, cheering on, and a steady rain fall coming down sideways, the match against SUNY Fredonia was a torrential downpour of tries by the Baron ruggers of Franciscan. The Barons rolled up 17 tries beginning with a quick intercept by John Thibault in the opening minute of the match. From then on, it was all Franciscan. They controlled position for most of the match, and were constantly attacking space and off-loading their passes to players for tries. Steve Kilmer had several long runs with his fending and quickness. Matt Hennig was equally impressive with his hard running. Clay Boyle had a few nifty runs and several other forwards were playing like backline players. The backline of Vince Prezzia, Thibault, and Nick Patryn were consistently advancing the ball at a rapid pace and led the charge with 8 total tries. With the ball being slick, there were the inevitable drops and bad passes but the Barons were able to overcome those and continue the onslaught as Fredonia were never able to gain possession or maintain it for long. Fredonia had a few solid phases and hit the gainline hard but the ball would either pop out or slip out of their hands. They played hard until the final whistle but could just never string enough phases together to aid their attack. Several new players also cashed in with their first tries of their careers. They were: Steve Kilmer, Mike "Carl" Mills, Anthony Petitte, Jeremy Lemaignen, and Brady Cutler. Freshman Steve Kilmer was named Golden Man of the Match with his tough, punishing running style and several off loads to open up space.
Tries scored: John Thibault (3), Nick Patryn (3), Vincent Prezzia (2), Noah Schleuter (2), Steve Kilmer (1), Mike "Carl" Mills (1), Luke Divver (1), Anthony Petitte (1), Ethan Peterson (1), Jeremy Lemaignen (1), Brady Cutler (1). Vincent Prezzia 6 conversion kicks made
