How It Happened
Tonight was the most exciting 0-0 tie in collegiate soccer. The game totaled 43 shots. In the first half the Barons had a small edge with 7 shots compared to the Cougars 12. Most of these shots weren't desperate far attempts. These shots were quick counter attacks with players running free, open nets, and bodies flying everywhere to try and block balls. Bri DeChristopher stood in goal for her third career start and waved her finger at the Cougars eleven times saying "Nope". Bri made diving saves left, right, high balls under the cross bar, and low balls in heavy traffic. Her efforts held the Cougars to 0 and help hold off Westminster in the conference standings.
The greatest chance the Barons had at a go ahead goal was late in the second half. Tania Davidson took a long lead pass from Bella Rubino. She beat one defender and sent a long low cross in front of the goal. The ball careened passed multiple players to the feet of Anni Winnogradoff on the far post. She took a touch to get a shooting lane and fired at an open net aiming just inside the right post. The goalkeeper was sprinting across the net to recover and made a diving save getting just enough of her finger tips on the ball to prevent the goal.
The tie adds one point in the PAC standings with Westminster just two points behind. The Barons have their last home game this Saturday. Come out in support to help ensure we see some home playoff action.

Inside the Numbers
-Bri DeChristopher recorded 11 saves in her second career shutout
-Juliana Rubino lead the game with 6 Shots
-Tania Davidson was responsible for the lone team save
-The Barons had 9 corner kicks compared to the Cougars 3

Who's Next?
Franciscan will remain home to host Saint Vincent on Saturday for Senior Day at Trinity Health System Field. The Barons are 2-5 in the all-time series against the Bearcats, but they have recent success with a 2-0 win last season. Tania Davidson and Kaitrin O'Leary each scored goals in that win last season on assists from Angela Postage. Saint Vincent is in the bottom half of the conference at the moment, but they can still easily get into the playoffs and climb up the ranks in a hurry with many teams tied or within a point of each other.
