How It Happened
The Barons traveled to face the Allegheny Gators in the final game of the regular season. Sitting at the #2 seed coming into the contest, a win clinched the #2 seed, the Quarterfinal bye, and the Semifinal home match. Allegheny is the longest conference road trip for Franciscan, but last night they were all business. The athletes came in ready to go from the first whistle, and it was all Barons for 90 minutes.
In the first half the Barons didn't allow a single SOG. Rebekka Dill was able to comfortably sit back and direct her teammates without the pressure of having to make a save. Conversely, the Barons fired a fury of shots (13) at the Gator goaltender in the first half. She kept the Gators in the game by holding them all off, but it would only be a matter of time before the Baron offensive machine broke through.
Halftime offered no respite for the Gators. Franciscan came out firing right from the start again. Now 50 minutes into the game with legs a half step slower, Claire Salyer found the back of the net for what would be the go ahead goal. In the 72nd minute Teaghan Elmore sent a long lead pass to the front of the net where Anni Winogradoff hit a short chip shot to beat the goalie and score her 2nd goal of the season. Just like the first half, the Barons hurled 13 shots at the Gator goalie and in return only allowed 3 on their end. The 3 second half Gator shots and 1 SOG never had a chance of scoring against the Barons, and they went on to record their 7th shutout of the season.

Inside the Numbers
-Rebekka Dill's 1 save effort produced her 4th shutout of the year
-Teaghan Elmore's assist is her first career assist and point
-Claire Salyer's goal is her 4th of the season
-Anni Winogradoff's goal is the 3rd of her career
