How It HappenedÂ
The Franciscan Barons lost their 2nd straight game this season and first conference match to the St. Vincent Bearcats 91-72 on Wednesday night at Big Red High School.
In their 2nd appearance on the court this season, the Barons found themselves down early on and could not pick themselves back up as the night went on. Senior Colton Hage led the Barons in the first half with 7 points, but despite the veteran's efforts the Barons were still trailing 14 points at the end of the first half period.
In the 2nd half, the Barons came out fueled by the loud attendance in the stands. The Barons were led by young guard, Benjamin Klement was putting on a clinic early and scored multiple fast break points early on. The Barons defense struggled and allowed the Bearcats to go on multiple drives down the court that ended in points. The young guard was one of the few bright spots for the Barons in this match. Â
The Barons struggled from the three-point line going 2 for 13 on the night and were out-hustled as the Bearcats scored more points in transition.

Franciscan will remain at home to take on Allegheny in a PAC matchup on Saturday at Steubenville High School. This will be the first matchup between these two schools, as Allegheny is new to the PAC this season. The Gators have been struggling through non-conference play thus far, but the season is still very young. Allegheny was picked ahead of the Barons in the PAC Preseason poll, as they were slotted eighth.Â
