How It Happened
The Barons made the short trip to La Roche on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference battle against the Redhawks. La Roche would start quick offensively as well as stifle the Barons offense to just 41 points to defeat Franciscan.
After a La Roche three pointer, Josh Zimmerman would get the first Baron bucket to get them on the board at 3-2. The Redhawks would then go on a run while Zimmerman and Malachi Rose-Burton would try to keep it close with a couple of baskets. A 10-0 La Roche run would set the score at 28-10 with five minutes to play in the first half, as Franciscan was still not right on offense. Aidan Hickey and Joseph Ciola added big shots done the stretch to send us to the half with a score of 40-17.
It took nearly four minutes for either team to score in the second half. Aidan Hickey would score the first four points of the half for Franciscan, as he scored seven points off the bench. The Barons were unable to string together enough buckets to chip into the lead, as the Redhawks continued to pull away. Frank Bellissimo and Nicholas Allienello would make the final buckets for Franciscan, as 19 players would see the floor for the Barons in the road loss.
