How It Happened
The Lady Barons made the trip to Greenville on Wednesday night for their lone matchup against the Tomcats this season. The Lady Barons would take an early lead in the first quarter and not look back, as they went on to win their first PAC matchup of the season. Madison Doan scored a new career high 28 points in the win to lead all scorers.

Franciscan came out shooting the ball well in the first quarter, as they shot 50% as a team in the opening ten minutes. Jazzlyn Melnyk led the way with eight points, including 2-2 from deep in the opening frame. The Lady Barons defense stepped up as well, by holding the Tomcats to eight points which gave them a 16-8 lead, as they head into the second quarter. The Lady Barons kept up their impressive outside shooting in the second quarter, as Natalie Conner and Sophie LaRose each made early three pointers. The team was then 4-4 from beyond the arc. A 5-0 Tomcats run would tighten this one up with three minutes remaining in the half. Then Madison Doan went on a run of her own, by scoring six straight Franciscan points.Doan ended the half with 10 points, as Franciscan held a 29-18 edge.

Kimberly McDaniels opened up the second half scoring with a made jump shot. Then Madison Doan would take over for Franciscan, as she would scored nine points in the third quarter. The Lady Barons were able to gain on their lead by five more points, as they won the quarter 15-10 to take a 41-28 lead into the final frame. Things got interesting in the fourth, as Thiel's Taylor Susany got dialed in from beyond the arc, as she made four three pointers in the first five minutes of the quarter. Once again Doan answered the call, as she added nine more points in the final frame to fend off the Thiel threat. The Lady Barons would win in commanding fashion by a score of 59-43.
