Elizabeth Gibson would get on base on a fielder's choice, while UMass-Boston mishandled the ball, Kimberly McDaniels was able to make it around the bases and score on the play. The Beacons would find the equalizer in the second inning to knot it up at 1-1.

UMass-Boston would hit a leadoff triple in the fifth inning, and they would eventually knock her in on a sacrifice fly to take the lead at 2-1 through five innings. Franciscan would keep pushing, as they got the bats going in the top of the sixth. Elizabeth Gibson would rip a single to center, and then Ashley Benson would come in to pinch run for her. Chloe Cross would deliver a one-out single to set the stage for Arnone. She delivered with an opposite-field double that scored Benson from second to tie it up at 2-2. That would chase the Beacons starter out of the game, as they would go to the bullpen. Franciscan tried to apply pressure to the reliever instantly, as a double steal sent Chloe Cross from third to home, but she was thrown out. Arnone made it to third. She would then score on a wild pitch later in the inning to give Franciscan the lead again at 3-2.

Franciscan would go to Lilly Wahl in the circle for the bottom of the sixth. The Beacons would string together some hits, including a triple to give them three runs and the lead at 5-3.
