Women's Tennis Finishes Florida Trip 3-1

Franciscan 8, Wisconsin-Superior 1

Singles
The Baron spirit herself, Caroline Picard, lead off with two straight set win as the #4 hitter. Olivia Colby, the #2, was close behind only dropping 4 games in her two set match win. Zoey Stapleton only allowed her opponent 5 games in her two set win in the #3 spot. #6 Laina Anderson copied her Stapleton's success. Maria Herrera won her match in two sets (6-4,6-2), earning the 5th team match point and clinching the team victory. Haley Davinsizer anchored singles play at the #5 spot. She was in a battle. Davinsizer lost the first set 0-6. It looked like Wisconsin-Superior would pick up their first team point. In a big turnaround, Davinsizer won the second set forcing the 3rd tie-break set. Davinsizer gritted through and closed out the 3rd set, and completing the sweep of singles play.
Doubles
Caroline Picard and Laina Anderson faced two entirely different opponents in doubles play, but that didn't change the quality of their success. They won their doubles match only losing one point. Wisconsin-Superior earned their only team point in the #2 doubles match. #1 doubles, Maria Herrera and Olivia Colby, completing the undefeated sweep of doubles matches for the Orlando trip.

Who's Next?
This concludes the Lady Barons spring break trip to Florida, as they return home this weekend. They will return to competition on Friday at Wittenberg for a non-conference battle. Wittenberg holds a winning record, as they are getting ready for their conference championships coming up this spring. These two teams have only played each other once back in 2016 with Wittenberg winning 5-4.
