How It Happened
Franciscan got off to a slow start. Jenny Massey had the lead off single to center field. In the bottom of the 1st, Mount Aloysius scored 2 runs. In the second, Lily Wahl had the Barons lone hit with a double to left center. In the bottom of the 2nd, Franciscan allowed 5 runs off 4 hits, and at the end of the inning were losing 0-7. In the 3rd the offense began to wake up. Franciscan had 3 hits; Kimberly McDaniels single down the third base line, Jenny Massey got on base, Elizabeth Gibson double down the left field line, and Rachel Cooper single to third base. Franciscan scored 1 run out of those hits. In the 5th, Franciscan scored another run off Chloe Cross' single, scoring Jenny Massey. Two more runs were scored in the 6th inning. In the middle of the 6th the score was 4-7 and Franciscan was making a comeback. However, they gave up another run in the bottom of the 6th, and it was too late in the game to capitalize on their momentum. The Barons hoped to carry their late game success into game 2 of the doubleheader.

How It Happened
Franciscan took their success from late in game 1 and took an immediate lead in the first inning of game 2. Kimberly McDaniels hit the lead off single up the middle. Jenny Massey doubled down the left field line. This was her 3rd hit on the day and bringing her career total to 100, the third player in Franciscan history to do so. Gibson grounded out, but advanced Massey and scored McDaniels. Chloe Cross singled to left field, scoring Jenny Massey. For five innings Franciscan held tight to their 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, Mount Aloysius snuck a run in, but Franciscan closed the game strong and grabbed the win.

-Elizabeth Gibson went 2 for 4 at bat with 1 RBI
-Chloe Cross went 2 for 3 at bat with 1 RBI
-Rachel Cooper was walked twice.

-Starter Kimberly McDaniels pitched 7 innings allowing only 3 hits and 1 run. McDaniels had 3 strikeouts

Up Next
Franciscan will head to Pittsburgh on Monday to face La Roche for a doubleheader. Franciscan is 6-16 all-time against their old conference opponent, including wins in the last six meetings. Back in 2019, while in the same conference, AMCC, The Lady Barons swept the Redhawks with a 7-1 win and  4-3 win.
