Doubles
Coach Greve switched his doubles lineup as the Barons prepare for the PAC tournament.
Gary Pierre was joined with
Billy Presume at the #1 pairing. The pair lost their match 5-8.
Aidan Howard and
Josh Robbins continue to play well together. The pair grabbed the first Franciscan point with their 8-3 win.
Leo Morella's normal partner Presume was play #1's today, so
Aidan Palladino joined him in the #3 doubles. The two quickly dispatched their opponents, and only dropped one point. Going into singles play, the Barons were winning 2-1.
Singles
The Barons took four of the six singles matches.
Billy Presume moved up to #2's and continued to take care of business.
Aidan Howard played up a spot at #4,
Aidan Palladino played the #5 matchup, and
Leo Morella played as the #6 hitter. With these four Franciscan players winning their match, the team accumulated six points. Six points is one more than needed and won the match.
Gary Pierre had another close match at the #1 spot. Pierre had a straight set in the first. In the second set his opponent just managed to edge him out and win 6-4. In the third tie break set, Pierre was just a few points shy of completing the win. Pierre lost the tie break 10-7.
Josh Robbins played up a spot at the #3. He had a slow start, but began to play much better late in the second set. If Robbins was playing best of 5 sets he may have taken the victory. However, today he played best of three and lost the match after the second set.
Who's Next?
The Barons are slated to return to PAC play at Westminster next Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The Titans are off to a hot start this season, as they only have one non-conference loss with an undefeated PAC record so far. The Barons are looking to remain unbeaten against the Titans, as they are 4-0 all-time. Last season, Franciscan won 7-2 in the home conference matchup.
Gary Pierre and
Billy Presume each went 2-0 on the day, as they paired up in #1 doubles to win 8-4 before winning their singles matches.
