Capital 9, Franciscan 0
STEUBENVILLE, OHIO -Â Franciscan Men's Tennis begins the fall part of their season with a home opener against Capital University. Capital is an extremely deep and talented team that is coming into town fresh off a 7-0 sweep of Mount Vernon of Nazarene. 2022 PAC Newcomer of the Year
Travis Mistry moves into the #1 spot on the team for his sophomore year. His first test as the top player was a big one facing Leonardo Abreu a First-Team All-OAC last year.
Doubles
The Franciscan doubles lineup was extremely young. Junior
Aidan Palladino was the only upper classman of the six players. The Barons were swept in doubles play, but #1 doubles
Travis Mistry and freshmen
Samuel Sabol had a very close match losing 8-4. Mistry was on target and aggressive with his shots. Coach Greve was generally impressed with how sharp Mistry looked today, but felt that a handful of shots just didn't go his way and lost some unlucky points. Going into Singles play the Barons were down 3-0.
Singles
 Â
Travis Mistry continued to impress in his Singles performance. He lost the first set 6-5. In the second set, Mistry was down 5-2. In a grand comeback he broke Abreu's serve and won two consecutive games. With the set score 5-4, Mistry had game point to tie the match and force a tiebreak, but a string of those unlucky shots Coach referred to lost him the game, the set, and match.Â
