Franciscan 7, Westminster 2
STEUBENVILLE, OHIO -Â Franciscan Women's Tennis got their 2022-23 season back on track with a massive conference win on Saturday at Westminster.Â
Doubles
The Barons would get the match off to a good start with very strong play from all their doubles pairings.
Maria Herrera and
Olivia Colby kept their undefeated PAC record in take by taking care of business in #1 doubles.
Haley Davinsizer and
Estelle Leon paired up for the fourth time this season, as they pulled off an 8-3 win at #2 doubles.
Claire Cardie and
Kina Ehlers made it a clean sweep for Franciscan, as they won 8-2 in the #3 doubles match.Â
Singles
Franciscan kept up their success in singles play.
Maria Herrera continued to show her dominance, as she won her #1 singles match on straight sets.
Claire Cardie and
Estelle Leon would take care of their Titans opponents in the same way.
Haley Davinsizer would get back on the winning track with a hard-fought three set win at #5 singles. With the win, Franciscan moves up to third in the PAC behind Allegheny and Grove City, who are still unbeaten in conference play.Â
Next Up
Franciscan will continue PAC conference play on the road at Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday night. The Barons are 6-1 all-time against the Presidents, including a pair of wins last season. The second win last season was a 5-0 sweep to claim back to back PAC Championships. The Presidents have had a slow start to the 2022-23 season, as they are 0-2 in PAC play, but I am sure Franciscan will ge their best shot as they will be seeking revenge from last season.
