Steubenville, Ohio - The Women's Tennis team extended their win streak to three, as they moved to 4-1 in conference play with a win over Geneva on Wednesday evening.
Doubles
Action begun with doubles on a cloudy overcast day in Steubenville.
Maria Herrera and
Olivia Colby were the first to finish, as they wasted no time with an 8-0 win at #1 doubles. The freshman duo of
Kina Ehlers and
Claire Cardie followed their leaders with the same result at #3 doubles. Then the rain would begin and #2 doubles would have to take a break in a back and forth match. After the 30 minute delay,
Haley Davinsizer and
Estelle Leon were able to power through and win by a score of 8-5.
Singles
The Barons kept up the success in singles play, as it would all be played under the lights at the Belleview Courts.
Maria Herrera was the first to finish, as she improved her singles record to 8-0 this season with a straight sets win at the top pairing. Herrera's double partner,
Olivia Colby would have the same success, as she won in #3 singles in straight sets. At #6 singles,
Estelle Leon did not drop a point, as she secured the Barons sixth point. Cardie would also not drop a point in #4 singles to keep up the Baron momentum.
Kina Ehlers would grab the eighth point, as she played a very nice match to win 6-1, 6-1. Lastly,
Haley Davinsizer battled in a back and forth match to win at #5 singles by a score of 6-3, 6-4.

Franciscan will have
Maria Herrera,
Olivia Colby,
Kina Ehlers, and
Claire Cardie represent the Barons at the ITA Division III Women's Tennis Central Regional Tournament in Saint Louis over the weekend. This will be the first time in program history that they have competed in this tournament. Three members of the Men's Tennis team made the trip last weekend and had some success, but hopefully the Women's Team can bring home even more wins.
