How It HappenedÂ
The Barons hosted the Bearcats at the beginning of the year and had a miserable performance that resulted in a 20 point defeat. Yesterday, the Barons challenged the Bearcats throughout the course of the game and held the lead to single digits up until the 30th minute. Offensive rebounds and turnovers lead to easy points for the Bearcats and/or fouls for the Barons. These mistakes haunted the Barons in the second half and caused the Bearcat lead to extend. The new offense the Barons installed during break is showing some life. If the turnovers can be cut down and they find some higher quality looks in offensive possessions they may find themselves shooting significantly better than 40% from the field and 18% from 3pt. Josh Zimmerman, Aidan Hickey, and Nicholas Allienello continue to show grit. For back-to-back games those three have been dependable for the Barons on both ends of the floor.
Inside the NumbersÂ
-Josh Zimmerman lead the Barons with 13 points and 9 rebounds
-Colton Hage lead the Barons with 4 assists
-The Barons had another 20+ turnover performance
-They were out rebounded 30-36 and gave up 13 O-reb compared to their 8
-This is the sixth time this season the Barons have shot less than 20% from 3pt
Up NextÂ
Franciscan will return home on Saturday for a matchup against Chatham at 4:00 p.m. This will be their first matchup of the year against the Cougars. Last season they split in their pair of matchups with the home team winning each game. In Franciscan's 87-83 win last season, Sean Hickey scored 32 points with three other teammates in double figures. This season, Chatham finds themselves in the top half of the conference once again, but they have struggled on the road with a 2-6 mark so far this season.Â
