#3 Franciscan 2, #2 Grove City 5
Grove City, Pa. - For the first time since the 2015-16 season, Franciscan Women's Tennis will not play in their conference championship, as they fell to Grove City on Thursday night in the PAC Semifinal
Doubles
 Coach
Tom Costello went with the same lineup as they used in the PAC Quarterfinal on Tuesday. Once again,
Claire Cardie and
Maria Herrera took care of business at the #1 spot with an 8-5 win. The other two matches went back and forth until the end.
Olivia Colby and
Veronica Saunders dropped by a score of 8-6 at #2 spot, and
Delaney Dawson and
Margaret Vernau fell at #3 by a score of 8-5. That would mean the Barons would need to win four singles matches to advance to the PAC Championship.Â
Singles
Olivia Colby would get the Barons their second point with a straight sets win at #2 singles.
Delaney Dawson,
Lauren Schoenberger, and
Maria Herrera would have the opposite result, as they lost in straight sets to give the Wolverines five points to secure the match.
Claire Cardie had won her first set at #3, and
Jordan Beltavski was in a close battle at the #4 spot when the decided point was secured.Â
Next UpÂ
Franciscan will be done for the fall semester, but they will still play a handful of non-conference matches next semester. Their full schedule of games in the spring of 2024 will be released later on this year.Â
