How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Volleyball made the 30 minute drive to Bethany on Wednesday evening for a PAC matchup against the Bison. Coming into this matchup, the Bison sit a top the PAC poll with an 8-1 record in PAC play, and the Barons were in a three-way tie for the sixth and final playoff spot.
The Barons would come out strong in the opening set. Bethany had the lead early at 4-3, but then Franciscan responded with a 6-0 run to take the lead at 9-4. The Barons would maintain the lead with the help of some Bison miscues, as they would be the first to fifteen at 15-11. The Barons would expand the lead up to seven points at 23-16, as Hebert had back to back kills. The Barons would close out the first set 25-22.
Disselkamp led the way for the Barons in the opening of the second set. She had a pair of kills and an ace to keep it tight at 13-13. A Bethany 4-0 run would give them the lead, and they would not relinquish it. Disselkamp added three more kills this set, as the Barons would cut it to a one-point deficit at 21-20, but the Bison would close it out 25-22.
The Barons looked to answer in the third set, as
Annelise Davis had a pair of kills to help earn a 6-5 lead. Bethany answered with a 6-0 run to retake the lead and momentum in this one. The Bison would go on to take this set 25-16. The Barons would not be able to gain traction in the fourth, as the Bison jumped out to an 8-1 lead. Disselkamp would help the Barons battle back with three kills and an ace to pull with five at 14-9, but a Bethany 7-1 run would but it out of reach.
