How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Basketball kicked off the 2023-24 regular season at La Roche on Wednesday evening. This would be the first game under first-year Head Coach Iliana Spoelman. The Barons would have a shortened roster, as they have had a bit of the injury bug during preseason, but they would give the defending Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Champions a battle.

La Roche would come out with a quick tempo style, and they were able to dictate the tone of this game in the opening quarter. Madison Doan led the way for the Barons offensively, but the Redhawks would capitalize on some turnover to take a 28-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Clow and Reedy would each connect on a three pointer in the opening minutes for the Barons to chip into the Redhawks lead. La Roche would respond with some fast break buckets, as they were able to take advantage of numbers in transition. La Roche would take a 53-26 lead into halftime.

Clow came out hot in the second half with five points in the opening minutes. Ashley Benson would join the scoring column in the final seconds of the third quarter, as all seven Barons that saw playing time would score tonight. The Barons would continue to battle in the fourth, as they scored 16 points to tie their highest scoring quarter of the day. They would not have an answer for the Redhawks offense, as La Roche would take the season opener.

Inside the Numbers
- Mikayla Doan led the Barons with 14 points.
- Madison Doan and Caroline Reedy each recorded double doubles.
- Reedy led the team with 11 rebounds.
- Clow registered career highs for assists (6) and points (12)
