How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Basketball returned to action at Wittenberg on Saturday afternoon against one of the best teams in the region. The Barons would fall to the Tigers by a score of 85-36
The Tigers would jump out to an 8-0 lead to start this one, as they would have a hot-shooting opening quarter. Mikayla Doan would get the Barons on the board, as she led the team with four points in the first quarter. Doan would lead the Barons with 14 points on the day, as she had 10 in the first half. Ilena Gonzales and Emma Clow would join the scoring column in the second quarter as well for Franciscan. Wittenberg scored 52 points in the first half.
Doan remained efficient on the day, as she would be 2-2 shooting in the third quarter to add to her strong day for the Barons. Caroline Reedy, Sophie LaRose, and Natalie Conner would all register points in the second half, as the Barons showed some rust after the extended layoff with their lowest offensive total of the season.

Franciscan will now return to PAC play on January 3rd at Waynesburg. They will take on the Yellow Jackets at 1 p.m. for their first of two matchups this season. The Barons are 1-6 all-time against them with the win coming in their last matchup. Jazzlyn Melnyk led Franciscan with 16 points in that 64-52 win last February. The Yellow Jackets are still in search of their first win in conference play this season.
