The game started close.
Laila Rackley hit a single to left field then stole second base.
Alexis McKnight powered one right past the second basemen and into center field scoring Rackley. After 2 innings the Barons were down 2-1 and had a few hits. Salem St. opened it up in the 3rd and 4th innings scoring 4 and 3 runs respectively. Now facing a 9-1 deficit, the Barons made some changes to give some players opportunities at other positions. How It Happened
The Barons had a solid defensive game for most of the innings in the second contest of the day. Only 1 run allowed in the first inning off an infield home run, then holding Curry College scoreless through the 3rd and 4th. The 2nd and 5th innings put the Barons down 7-0. In the 6th with 2 outs and a runner on 1st base, the batter hit a line drive toward third base. The ball bounced out of the fielder's glove and toward the dugout. The runner of first sped her way around the bases and beat the throw at home plate. This put Curry College up 8-0 and ending the game in the 6th inning. Tomorrow will be the last day of the Myrtle Beach Spring Break trip, and the last day they have to prepare before returning home and immediately jumping into conference play against the perennial powerhouse Westminster.
