How It Happened
With Day 4 underway and the last day for the Barons down in Myrtle Beach they took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. Maxwell ripped one to left field that got behind the outfielder and into the back corner. She made it to second base. Maxwell then advanced to third after Arnone hit a single. Rackley followed Arnone with another single sending Maxwell home for her second RBI of the year. This quick one run lead is only the second time the Barons have had the lead so far this season. That lead was quickly lost in the bottom of the 1st when the Barons gave up 4 runs.
The game was beginning to look like all the other games this week, but in the top of the 3rd the Barons came out swinging. Seven hits lead to five runs scored in one inning. So far this is the most productive their offense has been all week. In one inning alone they almost doubled their scoring from the entire week, 6 games, combined. Castleton quickly matched the Barons scoring and erasing their lead. The bottom of the 3rd was disastrous for the Barons allowing 12 runs in the inning. They added on 6 more in the 4th and held the Barons scorless through the 4th and 5th ending the game in the middle of the 5th inning.

Up Next
Franciscan will return home from their spring break trip over the weekend. They will have a couple days to rest and recover from the eight game week, as they do not return to competition until Saturday, March 25th. This will be the start of PAC conference play, as Westminster comes to town for a doubleheader starting at 1pm. Last year, the Titans won the regular season title with just two conference losses. The Barons handed them one of their losses by a score of 6-2.
Ariana Arnone had two RBIs while Lily Wahl pitched seven strong innings to take them down last season.
